If there’s one thing I love more than watching films it’s actually watching movies about people trying to make movies and the shenanigans of it.
The Drop announces itself as a fine note of dark comedy, which is set in motion by two close friends Tom (Garion Dowd) and Vongani (Siyabonga Xaba) whose sole intention is to make a film but lacks inspiration for the film script to begin with. In the streets of Maboneng, there’s a heist that takes place right below their home and suddenly a gunman bursts into their apartment and holds them hostage. What better inspiration than that for your first film?
